Meenakshi Kalyanam
A temple-calendar painting of the divine wedding at Madurai opens onto a procession at dawn. The days are counted in a carved rosewood panel, every ceremony gets its own lotus-framed card with alta footprints walking between them, and the evening closes on lamps in the temple courtyard.

How it began
Our mothers sat next to each other at the Chithirai festival, the year the chariot got stuck near the East Gate. They swapped numbers while everyone waited for it to move.
Twenty years and many festivals later, the two of us finally met properly, at a cousin's wedding in this very hall. We argued about filter coffee for an hour. This February, we stop arguing and walk around the fire together.
